There’s not one definition!  But, it’s actually quite a simple concept.  It’s a general way of eating that focuses on real, natural foods and limits processed foods and added sugars that have been bombarding our food supply and contributing to sugar addiction, overweight and obesity.  Clean eating can be adapted to fit any lifestyle and background.  My philosophy towards nutrition is to eat as “cleanly” as possible and begin to move away from yo-yo dieting and deprivation that will never lead to a healthy body and mind.

Laura, thank you again.  I have stepped away from the sugar and many bad food choices.  My attention is focused.  I have been reflecting on what crap I ate this year, indulging in everything without thought.  Mindful eating is everything now.  Thanks for the jumpstart!

I’ve been eating so well since the challenge…trying to stay away from sugar & cookies, pastries, cakes, pasta & rice. I eat the Ezekiel bread u recommended- love it! I feel like I’ve gained 10 lbs the past 2-3 years. Unfortunately in the worst places like my back & hips & thighs & no matter how much exercise if I don’t eat well it gets worse. Which it’s why knowing that I paid for your meal plan keeps me conscious. I switched to vodka with freshly squeezed grapefruit  & mint leaves- yummy

I don’t want the challenge to be over!  Tonight I hosted 20 3rd grade boys for the NBA finals and a goodbye party for my son.  I made all these treats for them and didn’t eat any!  Not even a lick of the batter spoon or frosting spatula.  And tonight I had some grapes and oranges!  Love being mindful!  And accountable!

We are outright confused about what to eat, and it’s for good reason!  Food companies label and promote products with misleading health information.  We read tons of stuff about fad diets, diet products and supplements, celebrity diets, what works and what doesn’t work, foods to eat and not to eat, and the list goes on and on.  Social media is making everything worse too.  We don’t know what to believe.

The program is 5 days (Monday-Friday) of super clean eating that is supported by me and the other members in the group.  Before it begins, I send you a food plan, shopping list, and rules via email to prepare for the week.  I create a private Facebook group and invite all the members of the challenge to participate in posting their meals, ideas, and thoughts so that we are supported by and can learn from each other.  I am available to all my clean eaters for the 5 days via email and text if they have any questions about anything.  It’s like having a nutritionist in your pocket!   Most of my participants see this as either a jumpstart to healthy eating, or they have a specific goal in mind for the week such as abstaining from alcohol or sugar or artificial sweeteners.  A large percentage of the clean eaters are repeaters so this is their way of having a monthly nutrition check-up!
